Environmental Scince Program

The Learning Experience...

At DU, students learn through experiencing the environment first-hand. Many of our courses involve extended field trips to study environmental problems. Our Field Quarter provides students with an opportunity to spend an entire quarter visiting numerous sites in the western US and northern Mexico to learn about natural resource management issues as well as problems unique to desert environments. International travel courses provide opportunities to study in the Mediterranean, Costa Rica, Iceland, and Ecuador.

DU is the oldest independent university in the Rocky Mountain Region. Quality academic programs, excellent faculty and personal attention, as well as our location in one of the most beautiful and vibrant regions of the country, are the main reason students choose to study and live here. Within minutes you can go from a large city to suburban neighborhoods nestled in the plains and foothills, to mountain communities and large expanses of forest and wilderness. This setting provides unique laboratories to study the environment.

We are located in the southern part of the city of Denver, just south of I-25, close to the intersection of University Boulevard and East Iliff Ave. (see map). The department is located in Boettcher West of the Boettcher Center (see detailed campus map). Please come and visit us if you are in the Denver metro area.
